A Weaver’s Tale (or ‘What I Actually Do in Real Life’)

2009 September 24

When I’m not travelling, I actually do some serious stuff.:)

Here’s the trailer of “A Weaver’s Tale”, Sheron Dayoc’s documentary about the Yakan tribe weavers and the dangers they face amidst the war in Mindanao. Sheron was one of the filmmakers who won the ASIAN PITCH 2008 sponsored by MediaCorp Singapore and NHK Japan. I wrote the script and post-production was done in JesCom.

Hi. My son’s class section is 4-Yakan at the Ateneo de Manila. Their topic now in Araling Panlipunan is the Yakan tribe of Mindanao. How can I get hold of copies of The Yakan (Aarica) and A Weaver’s Tale (Dayoc) to show in their class? Would the cinematographers require payment? Their research on Yakan is due on Monday, November 16. I hope to hear from you soon. Good blog. Thanks.

Hi jackie. I work in Ateneo.:) (In JesCom) Unfortunately, Sheron doesn’t own the rights to A Weaver’s Tale. But what I can do is email you the research I used when I wrote the script. As for the Aarica docu, I am not familiar with that nor the filmmaker. Anyway, will look for the research and email you. Thanks for the visit! -Pauline
